Have listened to most of it virtually every day since it was released. Not in the least bit fed up of it yet.

I wasn't all that bowled over by EYS when it first came out - I bought it the same day as the new albums by Funeral For A Friend and Linkin Park (yes, I have varied tastes...) and it came a distinct third to those two. However, since Borlum, I've listened to it several times, and I now really like most of it - I think it's a bit of a grower.

The same thing happened for me with Mara - didn't think much of it when it came out, but revisited it a few years later, and it is now probably my most listened-to album from the Donnie era.

I played it constantly for a few weeks then didnt visit it again until last week........just didnt seem to grow on me..........
But after a break man how things have changed............I think the cd is superb and have been playing it non stop ever since.......great songs and voice from Bruce

I've not really listened to it much since the first month after release save for Road trip which I burned on the a CD of various stuff for the car. My original disenchantment about the production (see Trousers and Andy's comments) still lingers I'm afraid. Hopefully if I get a chance to get along to a gig I'll be suitable enthused but I suspect it will just make me wish for a live album with better versions of the songs on it. I didn't get to Borlum (I was in Tuscany on holiday so I had a good excuse) but from what I've read I'm glad I missed it. That plus all the hassle with the messagebard before I left for holiday might just have finished me off.

Anyway, now that I'm all suitable refreshed I think I'll get EYS out and give it a listen.........

It is such a lovely bonny day here today I went for a blast in my car. Road Trip was blaring as I approached Kinnahaird Farm on the Ullapool road. This was the very same bit that was filmed for the big screens when they played Road Trip at Borlum! I enjoyed myself so much, I turned at Contin and went back to Maryburgh and did the whole darned bit again!! smile.gif

I just love this album so much. smile.gif

Any tickets left for Basingstoke, and is there standing available?

Hi. Not sure about availability for Basingstoke (I'd be surprised if it's sold out as it's unusual for Runrig to do two gigs in the same county in the South of England (i.e. Southampton and Basingstoke - fairly big overlap in catchment area for those two being only 20 mins apart (on a good day on the M3 !))) <-- crikey ! three embedded brackets in one sentence: Trousers, your surpassing your own high standards in the waffle stakes....

I'm pretty sure the Anvil is all seater, but could be wrong.

Hmmm, possibly the most unhelpful reply in the history of unhelpful replies..... blink.gif

This album continues to confuse little ole me ! I now find that I can't stop listening to it having described earlier how I found it 'awkward' to listen in one go as an album....there must be some tablets I can take for this ailment ?!

Still love it smile.gif

yesterday played the album 6 times biggrin.gif

Playing Stirling cd live 2nd time today biggrin.gif

I hope to play stirling cd as few more times.

I play Stamping Ground afterwards, then Proterra.

I will then play Mara 6 times.

I will then play Searchlight

etc etc

While i confess the album is still growing on me i still have a 'could have been better considering the time we had to wait for it feel' - better than Proterra on par with stamping ground - still nowhere near ISOA tho - in my humble opinion.

Like a friend said when you hear it live you'll change your mind.

Certainly hope so.

K.

After Borlum I have actually found myself listening more to The Stamping Ground, although I am still playing EYS. smile.gif

Loved it when it 1st came out, played it constantly then i grew bored of it for a while, i took it on holiday with me and listened to various tracks only a couple of times, but now after the concert and hearing it "live", i see it in a different way, its bloody fantastic and now i cant get enough hits from it........ Road Trip is the one for me, followed by EYS and Clash of the Ash...... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Fingers crossed the christmas tour will be anounced soon..... biggrin.gif I'm getting withdrawl symptoms, will they have a bit set aside full of liquid mud so we can roll about in just like Drumnadrookit??? laugh.gif laugh.gif A dry concert will just never have that effect that we had at Drumnadrookit.... laugh.gif laugh.gif

rolleyes.gif According to the Anvil (Basingstoke) programme, Runrig on 20th October IS all sold out (got my tickets though).
As for EYS album, I can't say that I was over enthusiastic to begin with, but as others have said, the more I play it, the better I get to like it. And yes, the songs sounded great live at Borlum. Still prefer Proterra though!
