10/10 all fabulous its different but very very lovely I want to dance and sing .... better learn the words

Gave it 9/10. Heard it 3 or 4 times now and the song that has grown on me most is "This Day". I thought it was fairly average first time round but now I can't get enough of it. Malcolms twiddley riff over the chord sequence is fantastic. Hard to pick a "weak" song, but if I had to I'd say "Year of the Flood" is the only one without something special about it, although still a good song none the less.

(By the way, when you load it into iTunes, it classifies the album as "Alternative/Punk" (!). I've heard Runrig described as many things before but never Alternative Punk! )

I cannot comment yet - but I always find that a song has made it for me when a tune starts buzzing around my head - or a phrase of a lyric and that can take a time to do. The ISOA cd took a time for me to warm to and I save it now for really fed up days and the start of Maymorning really cheers me up.

9 out of 10.... it just rocks.... exorcizes the the ghost that is proterra..... stand out tracks so far The Ocean Road, Atoms, Sona..... oh its all good roll on August....... Soaring like a bird..........

YOTF - good bouncy stuff but every timne it winds up to a Malky solo it doesn't happen and all we get ar Whoo Hoos - 5

RT - Excellent. Like it a lot. Lyrics a bit weak in places but good musically - 8

COTA - Pure guff. Twee. fun live probably but not my bag at all - 3

Ocean Road - Every so often these boys create a masterpiece that gets the hairs on your neck up. This is it for me. First listeneing I thought the Rory vocal/Chorus was a bit out of kilterwith the Bruce verses, but I now think its brilliant. And Malky rocks - 10.

Atoms - don't like the instrumental breaks - sound like a Eurovision cast off to nme,. Dated. Rest of its ok - 5

An Deal.. Nice melody but I can't hear it over the thudding bass line. And a bit fogettable - 4

This Day - Excellent. But maybe because I'm a huge Mark Knopfler fan....the chorus is a bit out of kilter with the verses but all in all I like it - 8

Sona - Brilliant. and will be evenm more so live. Malky is close to Godly ...9

SGTG - The beauty of ipods is that you can just leave some tracks off altogether...This is guff. Pleas no more boy band vocals guys. The sad thinmg for me is with a Bruce vocal and a totally different arrangement this could be quite powerful - 0

Accordions - err, I can't hear any accordions. Not sure I quite see why this has been gettimng such lavish praise. Its fine - nothing wrong with it at all, but it doesn't fly my flag - 5

Scand - Like it and Malky on form, but there's something about the drumbeat at the end thats not quite right. I keep waiting for it to unleash but it never quite does. Agnostic about the female vocals - 6


Overall I'm not happy with the clunky slightly muffled production or the packaging.

Its good, but not great with the odd exception. I'd give it a 6.

There's something up with this poll because the first time i looked at it, I was told that I''d already voted too!

Just for the record - I'd give it 6. Not the worst they've done, (Proterra!!) but not the best either.

Gave it a 1. Have listened to it 1 time and it's enough. Terrible, worst album they've done. Clash of the ash is the only real good song. Ocean road is good but a total big sky copy. accordions would have been great if they skipped the weird drums in the middle/end of the song.

Jim, I loved the packaging!!! An album recorded in the Highlands with a Highland Shinty player on the front!! Perfect!!!
