Because Runrig somehow isn't marketed here in the U.S. It's insane - Wolfstone is available, the Tannahill Weavers are available, many less well-known Scots like Christine Primrose have albums marketed here, but Runrig, premier highland band for thirty years... no, their CDs are only available as imports.
It's a sad, sad thing.
the more i listen to the album(and ive listened to it a lot...) the more it grows on me... (if thats possible) really is a classy disc...... not a filler song on it.... just over 49 minutes of great music...
Hi all,
I gave it an 8-of-10. "The Ocean Road" is my favorite track so far, but there are several others not far behind.
Cheers from the US,
Curt
Hi Curt, nice to see you on the board again.
You'll have to get on that 'Ocean Road' yourself and come over again!
Everything You See is well worth the four year wait (it'd need to be!), ok so it's their most mainstream sounding album since Searchlight, there is nothing distressing about that at all. The band reserve the right to experiment & progress, use rock scales aswell as Celtic ones all the time. The album is certainly alot more colourful than the dark 'Proterra', and I agree that it contains no weak or disappointing songs.
Hightlights for me (in no particular order)
Ocean Drive - musically & vocally stunning
In Scandinavia - powerful, haunting and progressive
This Day - Classic old school Runrig, warm and charming throughout (Dont understand why it's taking such a pounding from other members!)
Year of The Flood - Great stuff, car stereo:window down:blasting this:singalong!
The Accordians Played - Again a song with that signature Runrig warmth & glow.
Overall 9/10 for me.
I have now listened to this enough to rate it and it's a definite 10/10 - their best album zince Heartland and even better than The Stamping Ground and Proterra. Excellent variety, no weak tracks at all and a sense of fun (Clash of the Ash) which they never used to have.
They go from strength to strength and I can't wait for Loch Ness to see it all live.
