Beautiful pictures Whitts ! That's an area of Scotland I have never been.

Did you have to cross river Lyon ? It seems to be quite a big stream.

I am surprised as I think there isn't much snow this winter in Scotland. Normally is there much more snow on those hills ?

Greetings from the Alps,

Hello Annie,

Thank you very much for your great pictures. Some of them are breathtaking when it's not too cloudy. However the haze gives also a strange atmosphere.

How many hours did you walk Annie ? Where did you dog take you then ? huh.gif

Lionel,

There are hills pretty close by - the Lake District is an hour and a wee bits drive, with the Pennines half way between. The Cheviots are just up the road (The Cheviot parking about 40 mins).

The big problem - I'm a woose. unsure.gif sad.gif Have a driving license but don't drive. Had some refresher lessons but I'm still a big girls blouse so need hubby to drive me. He's not really into walking - can just about force him once every few years - and he refuses to carry the offspring if offspring gets tired. So until I get some babysitters, persuade the hubby or get brave enough to drive I'm stuck with the gym. Mmmmmmmm looks like I'd better get brave enough to drive eh!!! biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Hope you are feeling better soon and can get back out and about in the hills.

Jacqui,

It's a pity you can't go regularly hillwalking !! If you don't drive you could join a local hillwalking club. That's what I did when I was in Scotland, I had no car and I joined two Inverness hillwalking clubs and I got lifts from other members. I met lots of hillwalkers , they were a nice bunch of people and the atmosphere was great. I recommend the Highland Hillwalking Club in Inverness !!!

You could also try to convince hubby or even cycle to the hills !!! wink.gif laugh.gif

Jacqui, thank you very much for your kind wishes. I do need them, on Tuesday I will know if I need an operation (I really hope not). If the operation is needed I will be stuck at home for three more months. That's why I need all your wishes and positive waves (I don't know if I can say that in English). Anyway I keep my fingers crossed for Tuesday 31st January.

Cheers,

Lionel

Lionel,

I will get up more hills in 2006, I know it! Was easier when I was still in Dundee as there were lots of friends to get lifts from! smile.gif

Think its going to have to be the driving for me.... the offspring, I'm sure, will soon start needing to go places and will have to be driven! Don't worry - I'll warn everyone before I go out on the roads so you can all stay indoors!!!! laugh.gif

Best wishes for Tuesday. Really hope you don't need the operation. Sending out positive vibes!

Jacqui

Hehehe I almost went to the gym this afternoon ...but thought I'd better do some housework instead biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Jacqui,

Ask hubby to give you private driving lessons ! And tell him that driving on mountain roads is good to learn how to drive. Once you are in the hills, open the boot of the car and take two pairs of walking boots out. Here you are !

Merci beaucoup for your positive vibes. They are really appreciated ! wink.gif

Greetings,

Lionel

Hi Lionel

It was a shortish walk took about 2 and a half hours smile.gif ..my dog decided he had had enough ...sat down and wouldn't go any further, biggrin.gif ....he hasn't been on a long walk for about 8 weeks as he had a problem with one of his back legs but I was quite pleased with how far he walked today smile.gif

Best wishes for Tuesday from me too ...will keep my fingers crossed for you smile.gif
