Riglein, you expressed an interest in what we call the "high country". This photo was taken in early September, a gorgeous, clear warm day. My husband and I drove to the summit of Mount Evans, elevation 14258 ft elevation.
I know it doesn't classify as a hillwalk if I didn't actually walk it, my knees couldn't take it this year. This photo is looking back on the trail that hikers take to the summit. Hikers appear as ants.

This is me and my little dog walking to the summit from the parking lot.

This was from a trip to view the changing leaves of the aspens about three weeks ago. This is an old gold mine up the mountain from a town called Idaho Springs.

This was our destination. We were to picnic by this little mountain pond called Bill Moore Lake, but it was very cold and snowing. It was the first snow of the season there. Now, there is about 2 foot of snow in this area.

This is a view of the valley below on the way back down. Sorry the colors are rather washed out, our camera is getting old and the light meter doesn't work properly.

This is the road back down, the weather was still clear and sunny.
And now that I've got the hang of this, I'll post more in the future!

Managed to get out into the hills of Mid Wales yesterday climbed Pumlumon...had hoped to walk further but the streams were more like rivers and impossible to cross so we had to do a few detours smile.gif . There are a few photos on the link below

Usgael and Annie - great pictures! smile.gif

Usgael, thanks a lot for posting these - I like to be able to visualise the places people talk about, and now we can do that. Some very dramatic secnery there. Can't believe the early snow. Don't want to think about winter yet!

Annie, really beautiful watery autumn colouring there. It's so atmospheric. Can virtually feel the air, and the springy turf underfoot.

Keep posting everyone, for the stay-at-homes! cool.gif

On Monday, my husband and I went up Glen Shee to walk 3 Munros. We parked at the car park at the Glen Shee ski area and first went up Carn Aosda then over to Carn a Gheoidh and back to finish with The Cairnwell.

Carn Aosda is a REALLY easy walk to the top. Only took 25 mins from the car park. Horrible path to the top as its used by the ski industry diggers etc. The walk off to Carn a Gheoidh was nice. Fantatsic views all round. The Cairgorms to the north looked stunning. Tiny lochans with patches of ice. Ptarmigan in winter clothing and the hares in the process of changing.

The Cairnwell wins so far in my book as the most horrible hill to go up. Two big communications masts on top plus all the ski industry mess. Not a pretty summit at all but nice views from it!

This photo is taken from the summit of Carn a Gheoidh looking back to Carn Aosda (left) and the Cairnwell (right). (Link to more photos at bottom.)

Thanks, skyeman and riglein. I was happy to post them, but maybe should have posted them elsewhere as I did not walk it myself. (I know what sticklers mountain climbers can be everywhere!)
However, I'm working on my knees and ankles so that I can climb next year.
