| Hello ! Annie, merci beaucoup for your la-*test*-('") pictures !!! They are great. I am posting here all the photos of my hillwalk in Luxor, in Egypt, three weeks ago. I stayed on the West Bank of the Nile and I walked from my hotel along the road leading the famous Valleys of Kings and Queens. I passed the Collossi of Memnon and then crossed the village of El Gurna. I walked up the road of Deir El Medineh (Valley of the Craftmen) and then I started to climb the mountain named Gebel El Korn. This mountain is really famous as it overlooks all the most famous pharoahs tombs located in the Valley of Kings (Wadi El Molouk) and the Valley of Queens (Wadi El Malikat). The different valleys at the base of the hill are pierced by hundreds of royal tombs that people come to visit. I reached the top of Gebel El Korn and then walked the whole ridge up to the huge desert plateau. On the other side of the massif I started to go down and managed to walk on a path straight into the cliff. There was only one slightly difficult and narrow passage in the cliff to go down. I climbed down the rest of the cliff in a very rocky slope where I found lots of fantastic stones and fossiles. I brought back some of them to France. I came back to the main road walking along the famous Temple of Medinet Habou at the edge of some beautiful gardens. The walk took me about 6 hours and the temperature was about 30C... but on the ridge and on the plateau there was a great cool breeze. Greetings from France. Lionel |
