Good luck with that, hope it goes well. We get loads of folk through here doing the national 3 peaks. Like the look of Yorkshire and the idea of that 3 peaks challenge, just realising that I've never been to England much other than London and various airports around the country! I really should do something about that this year and might look at doing that route.

At long last downloaded my photos from last week...not the best due to the snow limiting visibility ....just hoping the snow will be going north so there will be plenty when I am up in Scotland next week biggrin.gif

Hi Celtman,

Nice plan !!! I hope you take lots of pictures to let us know about your walk. Don't forget some training before the walk.

Greetings from the Alps,

Lionel

Annie,

Thanks for your photos !! Really nice to see so much snow in Wales. Over here it's so mild that we have now less snow at 3000 feet than you have in your place.

Have a great time next week in Scotland and don't forget to take your camera with you.

Greetings from the Alps,

Lionel

If anyone wants to join in on the walk you are more than welcome. Might be a good place to have a Riggie meet smile.gif

Yesterday, sunday 11th I went ski-mountaineering in my valley not far from my village.
I skinned my skis and skied up to the top of Mont Forchat at the altitude of 1539 metres. I had a great time and was quite lucky with the remaining snow on the hill.

The weather was not too bad, very windy and quite cold but I managed to get some good views over Lake Geneva or Lake Léman, and also on the higher hills like Mont Billiat and Roc d'Enfer (Hell Rock).

I skied nearly up to the steep top (but on the last metres of the ascent, there was a lack of snow and I had to walk, carrying my skis). At the top is the statue of Saint François de Sales, a very famous man in our region. He was a priest and he brought back the whole region to catholicism after the Swiss invaded us and imposed their pro-*test*-('")ant faith to the area.

Then I skied down into the forest where I saw the open-air wooden church and down into the fields where I left my signature in blue wave-shaped lines. I left a bit late in the afternoon so I came back late and my last run into the woods was really at dusk. It was dark when I was back to my car.

Some pics first and then the photobucket link to watch them all.

Nice pictures Lionel.

Unfortunatly there is no snow here but I really wish that I could go out skiing, or even better, skating.

That's one thing that I have missed about the Scandinavian winter!!!

Thanks Bydand,

What kind of skiing do you like ? Downhill or cross-country ? Or even ice-skating ? Where were you in Scandinavia ?

Bydand- 02-12-2007
I'm not fussy what type of skiing, I like both!!
I do prefer skating though, especially outdoor on frozen lakes.

I was staying just north of Copenhagen but occaisionally took the ferry over to Sweden as well for the skiing.
The lakes around the place I stayed were great for watersports in the summer and skating in the winter.
