Had a good day in Snowdonia with Andy.

Think Andy had battery issues with his camera, but I managed to get some on my phone...

Hello again,

On May 6th, Election day in France, I was back to Avoriaz for a ski-mountaineering tour on the slopes of the Col du Fornet (2218 metres). I started skinning up the Arare area with some nice sunny intervals but going up to the Col du Fornet I was caught in a snow storm that lasted about 20 minutes. Then I skied back down to Avoriaz under another beautiful sunny interval. That was another great and very quiet tour on the beautiful Avoriaz slopes. More skiing in Avoriaz to come !

My pictures are here :

Been for a walk in the Black Mountains today with some friends...started at Blaen-y-Cwm car park, Grwynne Fawr, then it was a 16 m walk via Pen y Gadair Fawr followed by a ridge walk to 'Waun Fach and Pen y Manllwyn. Then round the head of the valley to Twyn Talycefn and along the ridge back to the start.

The weather was kind to us only had one rain shower smile.gif but it was pretty windy up on the ridge. No photos this time...someone forgot to put the camera in her rucksack ph34r.gif

Did the last of my "training" walks, up to Malham on the Pennine Way, this week. Left here 6am, beautiful clear sky and no - one around until I got there, then walked back. Going that time in the morning meant I saw much "wildlife" that wouldn't be around later.
Off to Holy Island on Wednesday, then on Friday begin my walk to Iona, hopefully arriving there on 15th June.

Thanks. I shall be signing off, until July, on Tuesday evening. 4 weeks walking followed by two weeks on Iona and Mull with Valerie and a few days "wandering" home .

Yesterday afternoon I was looking for some snow to go ski-mountaineering and I went to the Chatel valley but there wasn't much snow left at the Col de Bassachaux so I decided to cross the border into Switzerland.

After Morgins, I drove up part of the valley leading to the Col des Portes du Soleil (2116 metres). Not much snow left either so I decided to hillwalk up the pass. The weather was dry with cloudy sky and wind on top of the col. I found some snow on the top. It would have been enough to ski but I didn't want to carry my skis and boots too far...

I really enjoyed one of the first walks I was doing this year as I have been ski-mountaineering all the time this winter and spring. Some superb flowers as the Blue Gentian were in bloom. I enjoyed a nice sunset when coming back to Chatel in France.

You can watch my pictures here ... Enjoy.
