Hi Celtman,

Thanks very much for your great pics ! Where did you take them exactly ? Lake District ? Peak District or somewhere else ? Beautiful scenery.

Greetings from the Alps,

Lionel

Hi Riglein,

Thanks for your comment. Yes indeed, its a nice picture. I like it very much. I am glad my father can still hillwalk like that at the age of 84 ! Everybody is impressed with him, even his doctor.

Lovely photos all. smile.gif

Lionel, your Dad looks amazing - must be the mountain walking that's kept him so fit and young-looking! I couldn't climb like that even now! sad.gif

Hi everybody,

Yes indeed my Dad is still very fit and he'll be 85 years old in August. He spent his whole life hillwalking and working hard on the farm. But he has a life mostly without stress and far from polluted cities. He loves animal watching but also still goes hunting (boars and deers), fishing and he also goes hillwalking everyday. He keeps saying that hillwalking is the best sport to keep fit. I think he is a good example to imitate. Another thing he likes : singing old traditional Savoy songs and dancing the waltz with my mother who is the same age as him. cool.gif

Greetings from the Alps,

Lionel

Just come back from another fantastic weekend walking and camping in Snowdonia. We arrived on Friday afternoon after doing a slight detour for me to attend a job interview and arrived to pitch the tent in my interview suit biggrin.gif (Thankfully I had a phone call to say I was being offered the job so it was worth spending most of the day in a skirt laugh.gif ).

Saturday we headed down the A5 and started our walk in the Carneddau. We started in sunshine and headed up the east side of Pen Yr Ole Wen (3209') then just as we arrived at the short scramble it decided to start hailing !!! Scramble was successfully negotiated even by Strider who seems to find going up the scrambles much easier than coming down biggrin.gif The hail soon stopped but the clouds were looking menacing so we didn't hang about on the top. We headed along the ridge to Carnedd Dafydd (3425') where we could see the RAF helicopter rescuing someone off Tryfan. Then it was on to Carnedd Llewelyn (3491') where we stopped for lunch in the sunshine even if it was a bit chilly.

Then it was back down over Pen Yr Helgi Du negotiating an awkard little scramble ...well it was awkward the way I chose to go down anyway biggrin.gif
Then it was back to Betws-y-Coed for a well earned pint and curry biggrin.gif

Can't wait to get back up there now and finish off the Welsh 3000s...if only it was this easy to get all the Munros biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Will post the photos tomorrow smile.gif
