hi Lionel.
no havnt been out sinc i have returned from Snowdonia,it hasnt stopped raining yet lol

Hi Alun,

Sorry to hear the weather has been so bad. It's the same here in the Alps. We had violent thunder storms and I couldn't go skiing recently. However I managed to go hillwalking on Saturday afternoon and Sunday just in between two storms. Today the weather is again wet and stormy. I am starting to be fed up of this weather. dry.gif

I hope you have soon an opportunity to be back to the hills !!!

Greetings from France,

Lionel

This is a report of a hillwalking weekend on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June. I was with my friends Christine and Jean-François and we went to the mountain of Seytrouset to stay overnight in Jean-François' chalet set in the beautiful Alpine pasture of Seytrouset. We enjoyed eating a delicious Savoy cheese fondue accompanied by a nice Savoy white wine and Welsh beer (the last can of the beers I bought in Brecon with Annie in April).

On the Sunday we had a great walk with beautiful sunshine to the alpine pastures of Tré le Saix and then up to the top of Pointe de la Gay (1800 metres). We had to come back quite early in the afternoon to avoid a thunder storm and heavy rains later on that day. We enjoyed fantastic views over the French, Italian and Swiss Alps. A fantastic weekend on the hills !

hi all.
great pics as usuall Lionel.
i bet that can of Brains smooth was nice and cold.
sorry this is a litle late i managed to get out last fri up the Brecon Beacons for a litle navigation practise locating the crash sites of 2 aircraft .i parked up in the car park at Dan yr Ogof and walked up the path that leads up out of the car park onto the high ground, and followed the main path until reaching a large area of peat bog which is fenced off.
i then left the path and walked accross the open moorland up in the direction of Bwlch y Giedd which is a gap between Fan Hir and Fan Brycheiniog following the Haffes.
1st to reach was the remains of a De Havilland Vampire no VZ106 which crashed on the west slope of Fan Hir in 1953.
next to find and there was not much left was the remains of an Avro Anson no L9149 which crashed on the slopes of Fan Brycheiniog.here are a couple of photos the weather was not very good so there are not many.

Hi Alun and thanks !!

Your pics reminded me of my last day walk in Wales in your company. I think it's the same place or at least in the surroundings. For sure, it's one of your favourite places to walk in the Brecon Beacons. I hope the weather over Wales is going to clear up a bit. Tonight in the Alps we are having heavy rains at altitude 1000 metres and snow at altitude 1800 metres. Back to Winter !!!

Greetings,

Lionel

Thanks Mady ! Yes indeed it was nice to fly the Saltire and to think of all Scottish friends from a place high on the Savoy mountains. Next August I should fly a French flag on the Cairngorms ! wink.gif laugh.gif

hi Lionel.
Yes it was in the same area we visited but instead of going to the rocky area with the shake holes from the peat bog i went in the oposite direction up to the high hill area to the gap where we walked up to from Llyn y Fan Fach.
wasnt raining heavy just mist and drizle as i like it
